Heavy winds over 50mph and hail reports were extensive around the area. As well as 1.86 inches of rain falling in Wilmington New Castle Airport was a record for a June afternoon. Storms began about 4-5 pm and lasted in different waves over three or four hours. Storms came in from the NW due to a pre-frontal trough that hung over the area. Dew points were in the high 70’s, and temperatures were in the mid to high 80’s. CAPE values were more than 5000 J/g which created an extremely rich environment for possible severe weather. There were reports of blackouts, but they were of short duration so most people should be back online by this morning.
