Unfortunately, if you are reading this now and you haven’t seen this yet, the peak of the alignment of the six planets event has come and gone. Yet, even though the peak of the event was earlier this morning you can still see the planets aligned over the next few mornings until the 27th when the planets start to separate and go off in different directions. I saw it this morning and it was very impressive. The only planet that seemed “away” from the others was Saturn. Saturn was way out that I couldn’t even get a good picture of “all” the planets. Mercury was too low on the horizon unless you have a totally unobstructed view of the E/SE sky. As an added bonus, Uranus is slightly visible at sunrise. I saw 5 of the 6 planets. The best time to view everything is between 3:30-5 am.
The picture above shows 4 of the six planets visible. Saturn was WAY to my right. Venus was too low on the horizon and by that point was totally obstructed. Uranus was barely visible but you can see a slight nudge in the picture. That was Uranus.
You don’t even need a telescope. A clear sky and a camera phone are all you need. Take a pair of binoculars.
However, if you are patient you can wait another 40 years before it happens again.
