July ends with tame weather, AUGUST opens up warm but gets hotter. Stormier? Tropical??
July is ending with very cloudy skies and just general warmth. Well then, it’s July weather.
How do we begin in
August? WARM and it will get WARMER, HOTTER, but will it get stormier? Will we get some tropical systems? , or will it JUST be August weather?
These are all great questions, but none of them have decent answers.
Let’s start with this week:
As you can see we have a pretty warm week ahead. A couple of days ago models had this week looking like the coming of a brick oven. Now, we have a more “moderate” looking heat week ahead. We need to watch each day except for Tuesday and Wednesday for storms, but I think we will have our garden variety storms, but we need to examine them as they come.
We shall see!
THE TROPICAL SEASON: WHERE ARE WE AT?
The above graphic shows the forecasted picture of this year’s 2022 Atlantic Tropical season. CSU's (Colorado State University) forecast is pretty similar to NOAA. We are far and away not even close to the halfway point of the hurricane season. So, we still have at least 3.5 months before we can say who was right/wrong. Below are the stats for the current Atlantic hurricane season:
Named Storms: 4
Hurricanes: 0
Major Hurricanes: 0
Hurricane Days: 0
Whoa? you might say, but remember look at the calendar. July was the warm-up. August might be battered on deck. And September maybe when the heavy hitters have their time at the plate. I believe we are going to have a different scoreboard by the end of August.
